Sunny Seed is a community garden project that gives community members the opportunity to develop hands on gardening skills. The garden grows a wide-array of fruit and vegetables using permaculture techniques.
Initially formed as a partnership between The Epicentre and the Salvation Army’s Employment Plus, Sunny Seed Garden was a Working for the Dole project with community members with a knack for gardening, mentoring WFTD participants.
Nowadays, the garden is run by a group of volunteers, some of whom helped establish the garden. Work on the garden happens sporadically and new volunteers are always welcome to come along, whatever your skill-level. Produce from the garden often goes toward the community restaurant that the Neighbourhood Centre hosts at lunchtime on Fridays.
