Our Emergency Relief program operates from the Neighbourhood Centre in San Remo (on Brava Avenue). The program offers a helping hand to community members in need, through distributing one off food vouchers, food hampers, petrol assistance (in limit circumstances), Telstra vouchers, as well as pharmacy vouchers.
If you’re experiencing a crisis and are in need of assistance do not hesitate to make an appointment for emergency relief. Appointments are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, although we ask patrons to book on Mondays as we have limited capacity, which fills quickly. Call us on 4390 7888 to organise an appointment.
Primarily, emergency relief should be utilised for the temporary relief of individuals and families in crisis. People who have found themselves using this service frequently should consider seeking longer-term assistance. This varies on a case-by-case basis, however, services such as the Local Employment Access Project and Financial Counselling seek to alleviate long-term pressures and improve capacity.
The program is funded through the Australian Federal Government’s Department of Social Services and functions successfully largely because of the generosity of our volunteers. If you’re interested in getting involved, let us know here.
