Today we went down to Gosford Showground for the Naidoc Week Celebration. We went down not knowing exactly what to expect and we came home knowing more about health and aboriginal culture.
There were lots of cool things to see and do, We started off with checking out all of the stalls held by organisations like headspace, ACON, Life Without Barriers, NSW Transport Info, Interrelate, New Horizons, ORS, Breakthru, Ngiyang, Samaritans, Jobcentre, Workcover and Beyond Blue. We We learned that blowing bubbles on a daily basis is actually really good for you because it promotes mindful breathing. We also got to enter competitions, make badges and loom band bracelets and we picked up a bunch of cool free stuff. We checked out the entertainment, there were musicians and dancers that were all really good. A few of us went to the hall for health checks and at the end of it, we got a backpack full of goodies. Around twelve o’clock we all sat down for a free barbecue lunch as we watched more dance performances. Some of us tried some crocodile and kangaroo sausages which was something different. After our lunch, we did one more round of the stalls and then we got back on the bus to come home. A great day was had by all.
